2018 marks the 47th season of the Sarasota Institute of Lifetime Learning (SILL), a non-profit organization guided by an all-volunteer board that provides lectures on issues of major domestic or global importance. From China and Russia to Europe and the Middle East, speakers well versed in these areas will present their perspectives on key issues. Friends of Boca Grande will simulcast eleven of these thought-provoking discussions.

Ambassador Robert Ford – Climate Change and Stability in the Middle East and North Africa: It’s Going to Get Hotter
The Middle East and North Africa face projections of temperature rise, diminished rainfall and sea level rise, which could trigger not only domestic instability but also wars between states over diminishing water resources. Ford will discuss how countries in the region are likely to react to climate change pressures and how they might diminish those pressures.
